Review: KHATTA MEETHA

A movie with messages..
After a long time director Priyadarshan has come out with a movie worth watching. “Khatta Meetha” is a movie which opens our eyes towards the our country’s corrupt municipal systems through its numerous comedy scenes. It is filled with sarcasm in almost all of its dialogues.
Some of you might find the movie long, but the funny performances and script of the movie will not let you get bored in the entire movie.
The cast of the movie is the usual which you get to see in almost all of the Priyadarshan’s flick , i.e. Akshay Kumar, Rajpal Yadav, Asaraani etc. The highlight is the new comer Trisha Krishnan who is playing the leading lady in the movie. She has also given a good performance in the movie but she definitely doesn’t know how to dance. We also get to see the very famous theatre artist Makrand Deshpandey in a small but pivotal role in the movie.
The music of the movie is very average and the unnecessary placement of the songs in the movie makes you hate it even more.
The comedy in the movie is mostly Slapstick, and is enough to make laugh almost every time. The moment one starts thinking that the movie is getting boring, an interesting incident or a comedy scene revives his interest towards the movie. Some of us may feel that the director has tried to make a non comic movie into a comic one deliberately with some of the comedy scenes not at all related to the storyline of the movie. But still this is the case with only few scenes, rest all of the comedy scenes are really appreciable with some of them even being thought provoking.
Concluding i would like to say that “khatta Meetha” is an amalgamation of good storyline, good script, excellent performances, average music and to some extent average direction also. (we have seen better work from priyadarshan)
It is worth a single watch.
Ratings: 3/5
